Future of Fashion driven by Giltrap Group
The Future of Fashion Show is a cornerstone of NZFW's commitment to emerging designers, providing a platform for new voices to present their work, and connect with industry leaders. The show puts a spotlight on these fresh and exciting names who are taking New Zealand fashion forward into the future.
Designers from all over New Zealand are invited to enter, with an expert panel of judges selecting eight finalists who are offered the opportunity to present their collection as part of the Future of Fashion show, gaining invaluable exposure, mentorship and the opportunity to take their brand to the next level.
Open to all New Zealander citizens and NZ permanent residents.

Helping Kiwis Fly Award
At the heart of the show is the Giltrap Group Helping Kiwis Fly Award - Fashion Edition, presented in partnership with Giltrap Group. The award recognises one designer selected from the Future of Fashion collective, who has demonstrated that they are moving beyond the early stage of their career and stepping into their next phase of growth. The award reflects a shared commitment to backing the next generation of New Zealand talent with meaningful, long-term support, enabling designers to grow with confidence, both locally and internationally.
Together, NZFW and Giltrap Group offer the Helping Kiwis Fly - Fashion Edition award winner access to mentorship, industry networks, financial support, and the tools required to build a sustainable business. The award also includes a vehicle sponsorship with Škoda, helping the recipient navigate the demands of a growing brand while continuing to build momentum beyond the runway.
The inaugural award was presented to Rebe Healy of REBE, whose work reimagines modern womenswear with clarity and confidence.

Have been producing commercially available apparel and/or accessories for 3-5 years
Have runway potential
Be innovative
Future prospects
Demonstrate sustainability and strong brand values
Include information about previous accomplishments/accolades
Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel of industry leaders.
Applicants should have an essential focus on sustainable and ethical business practices.
Brands may only show once within The Future of Fashion show category. Each designer will be required to submit a minimum of 8 complete looks.

Dan Ahwa - NZ Fashion Week Creative Director
New Zealand–based creative director, journalist, curator, stylist, and brand ambassador with over two decades of experience at the forefront of fashion and culture. Recognised for his refined editorial sensibility, he moves fluidly across image and language, shaping narratives that sit at the intersection of style, culture, luxury, and politics with clarity and depth.
Vicki Taylor - Founder and Creative Director of taylor and international concept store The Shelter
With more than 30 years in the industry, she is recognised for her distinctive design perspective, commitment to New Zealand manufacturing, and dedication to nurturing emerging talent. Through The Shelter’s Emerging Designer Program, Vicki has helped launch and mentor some of the country’s most successful fashion brands, providing invaluable support in retail, business development, and brand building.
Wynn Crawshaw - Fashion Designer, Wynn Hamlyn
Wynn Crawshaw is a New Zealand fashion designer known for his thoughtful approach to craftsmanship, innovation, and contemporary design. Mostly self-taught, Crawshaw has built a reputation for blending technical precision with artisanal techniques, creating work that balances utility, nostalgia, and experimentation.
Steve Kenchington - Giltrap Group CEO
Steve Kenchington is a New Zealand automotive leader with nearly three decades of experience across retail, distribution, and executive management. Appointed CEO of the Giltrap Group in 2025, he brings a track record of leading high-performance teams and navigating an industry in rapid transformation, with previous roles spanning Motorcorp Distributors, Sime Darby Automobiles, and senior positions in automotive finance across New Zealand and the UK.

Helping Kiwis Fly: Fashion Edition - Driven by Škoda New Zealand - Helmet Trophy
Financial Support - $5,000 cash award, confirmed by the Giltrap Group Trust
Brand Partnership & Mobility including a 12-month vehicle sponsorship (branded) and brand ambassadorship with Škoda New Zealand; opportunity to be featured across Škoda New Zealand marketing channels, campaigns, and audiences, supporting increased exposure and brand growth
Property Access - Use of a Giltrap Group property (location to be confirmed) for up to two occasions, with each activation available for a duration of up to two weeks - suitable for private showings, buyer appointments, curated brand presentations, or a short-term pop-up retail experience.
All activity delivered through a collaborative partnership, with mutually agreed opportunities designed to amplify the designer’s story while building their credibility and commercial profile.

The winner agrees to deliver the following Media Deliverables for Giltrap Group and Škoda New Zealand 20th August 2026 - 20th August 2027
Minimum four dedicated Giltrap Group social media posts on the designer's social media channel (one per quarter).
Minimum six dedicated Škoda / partner social media posts on the designer's social media channel - showcasing the designer’s journey and use of the vehicle.
Minimum two features in 66 Magazine (post-NZFW 2025 and lead-in to NZFW 2026). At least one feature in a Giltrap Group Garage EDM during the 12-month sponsorship, showcasing how the vehicle supports the designer’s journey.
