Supporting the Next Generation.

New Zealand Fashion Week is committed to nurturing the future of fashion in Aotearoa. Beyond the runway, NZFW creates meaningful pathways for emerging designers, offering the visibility, support and industry connections needed to grow and sustain their careers. Through dedicated awards and initiatives, we champion the next wave of talent, ensuring New Zealand fashion continues to evolve, lead and inspire on a global stage.

Helping Kiwis Fly Award

In 2025, the Helping Kiwis Fly Award recognised designers who have moved beyond the earliest stage of their career and are stepping into their next phase of growth. Created in partnership with Giltrap Group, the award reflects a shared commitment to backing the next generation of New Zealand talent with meaningful, long-term support.

Through this partnership, NZFW and Giltrap Group work together to provide emerging designers with more than just visibility, offering access to mentorship, industry networks, financial support, and the tools required to build a sustainable business. It’s a commitment to enabling designers to grow with confidence, both locally and internationally.

The inaugural award was presented to Rebe Healy of REBE, whose work reimagines modern womenswear with clarity and confidence. Alongside industry support, the award includes a 12-month vehicle sponsorship from Škoda New Zealand, helping the recipient navigate the demands of a growing brand while continuing to build momentum beyond the runway.

Future of Fashion Award

The Future of Fashion Award is a cornerstone of NZFW’s commitment to emerging designers, providing a platform for new voices to present their work and connect with industry leaders. Each year, a curated group of designers is selected to showcase their collections, gaining invaluable exposure, mentorship and the opportunity to take their brand to the next level.

In 2025, Bronwyn Footwear was awarded the top honour, recognised for its distinctive design perspective and strong brand direction. The award supports designers as they transition from emerging talent to established names, helping to build sustainable careers and contribute to the future of New Zealand fashion.
