ABOUT Into the Archives: Two Decades of New Zealand Style
Ka mua, ka muri - walking backwards into the future.
To celebrate Fashion Week's return to the event schedule in the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau's vibrant CBD district at Shed 10, the city of Auckland comes alive with this celebratory showcase of pride, self expression and unapologetic New Zealand creativity.
Styled by Dan Ahwa, creative advisor for New Zealand Fashion Week, the showcase will include a mix of familiar and fresh faces along with archival pieces that have helped redefine what New Zealand Fashion means now.
From Karen Walker's broken pearls to the John Pule inflected prints of Doris de Pont, curator and creative director for the show Dan Ahwa has surveyed a curated edit of looks that have contributed significantly to our fashion canon.
Take a trip down memory lane as iconic designers such as Nicholas Blanchet, Kate Sylvester, Zambesi and Kiri Nathan collide with the new vanguard of designers and makers including Crochet Bae, Rory William Docherty, Claudia Li, Paris Georgia and more.
This show is not to be missed.
